Liverpool’s Sound Of Guns aren’t quite as riotous as they name might suggest. However, for their debut EP their unnerving indie-rock atmospherics stir up quite a reaction at first. And with the right man at the helm, in producer extraordinaire Dave Eringa (Manic Street Preachers, Idlewild) these grandeur indie crescendo’s have been carved out with zealous gusto. Well they have in titled track ‘Elementary Youth’ anyway. But then it loses it way- ‘Dead Sea Scrolls’ with its wonky guitars, wayward vocals and shitty chorus starts to wear alarmingly thin. It quickly turns into that throwaway indie-pop record you could eat your dinner off. Reminiscent of Royworld and Air Traffic. Like the aforementioned dirge, we’ll take a miss on their future releases, if they have any that is.
